What Is in Golden Age
What Episode 2.2.3.2 contains - level 65, Gold Points, three battle dungeons and the Bio Lab second basement - and what our server does with it today.
The Version
Episode 2.2.3.2, the one most people mean when they say RF Online, and the largest content set of the four. Level cap 65, the highest the game reached in this line.
What it added:
- Gold Points, a currency earned from hunting and from Gold Boxes during the chip war, spent at faction NPCs on high-tier weapons, accessories and armour coupons.
- The Bio Lab second basement, a level 61+ zone reached through Cartella Gate floor 1.
- Three Battle Dungeons spanning levels 45 to 65: the standard one with Hora Bloody Heller Wing, The Present at 56+ with Inferno Block, and The Future at 56+ with Hora Inferno Block.
- New skills at 40+ for pure job classes: Acceleration and Bash Explosion for the warrior line, Long Distance Spiring for the ranger line, which stuns without the usual damage penalty.
The Client Needs One Setting Changed
The 2.2.3.2 client ships with an anti-cheat transport layer enabled that our server does not
speak. The release archive includes the config files that turn it off, in client/, and copying
that folder over your client is what applies them.
If you skip that step the client connects and then sits there, which looks like a network problem and is not.
Port and Address
Golden Age listens on 27800. If you are running more than one RF version on one machine they already use different ports and coexist without changes.
What Works
World entry, movement, chat, combat against monsters, item drops and pickup, inventory and equipment, shops, quests, skills and force, party play, death and revival, and the three race starting towns.
What Is Not There Yet
- The mine and the chip war. The scheduled race-versus-race event is not implemented, which also means Gold Boxes have nowhere to drop from.
- Guilds beyond the basics.
- Player-versus-player outside what falls out of the combat rules.
- Siege, mounts and MAU systems.
- Economy tuning. Drop rates and prices are ours and are not tuned against anything.
Progression works, so a character you level now is a character you keep, but the endgame is not there to reach yet.
Content Data
The static content is imported once on first start from data shipped in the archive: monsters, items, shops, maps and spawns. It is read-only at run time and identical on every install of the same version, so it does not need backing up.
If your world is empty of monsters, that import did not happen. Troubleshooting covers it.
Reporting Something
The version is stamped into the archive name and printed in the server log on start. Quote it. The RF versions look alike in a screenshot and behave differently, and a report without a version usually cannot be acted on.
