What Is in Giga 4 Episode 2
What this version of RF Online contains - races, cap, maps and systems - and what our server does with it today.
The Version
Giga 4 Episode 2 is the last version of RF Online before the cash shop arrived. Three races share one planet and fight over the mine at the centre of it:
- Bellato, small and industrial, who pilot the MAU walkers.
- Cora, who fight with force, animus summons and Talic magic.
- Accretia, machines with no magic at all, who bring the Siege Kit instead.
Level cap 55. The chip war runs on a schedule, the winning race holds the mine and its buffs, and each race elects an Archon who leads it between wars.
Playing on Our Server
This is the RF version we host. It is at rf.oldschoolops.com: make an account, point the launcher at it, and play. Nothing to set up.
To run your own instead, the server listens on 27780, which is what the client expects by default.
What Works
World entry, movement, chat, combat, drops and pickup, inventory and equipment, shops, quests, skills and force, party play, death and revival, and mastery that climbs as you use things.
What Is Not There Yet
- The mine and the chip war. The scheduled race-versus-race event is not implemented, so the faction endgame is not reachable yet.
- Guilds beyond the basics, and organised player-versus-player.
- Economy tuning. Drop rates and prices are ours and are not tuned against anything. Expect them to move.
Progression works, so a character you level now is a character you keep.
Reporting Something
Quote the version from the launcher or the first lines of the server log. The RF versions look alike in a screenshot and behave differently, so a report without one usually cannot be acted on.
