RF Online: Golden Age v0.1.3

The Level Cap Moves To 65

Released 2026-07-28

The level cap is now 65, the number Golden Age itself shipped with. The rest of the release is the launcher, and running a server without installing anything first.

Golden Age caps at 65, and the server uses that number now. The rest of the release is the launcher and what you need installed to run a server.

Fixed

  • The level cap was 55. Golden Age’s own cap is 65, and the server stops you there now.
  • The launcher logs you in with an email address and a password. An address the server has not seen before signs itself up, so your first login is your registration.
  • ONLINE or OFFLINE now shows at a glance, with the version the server is running beside it. If the server is up but its account database cannot be reached, you get told that much instead of a bare OFFLINE.
  • The launcher keeps your client files current. If the server you point it at publishes them, it checks before the game starts and fetches only what changed. Your launcher and your saved settings are never overwritten.
  • The launcher no longer leaves a console window sitting behind the game, and it is a smaller download. Starting it against a server that publishes no client files no longer reports an error.
  • Nothing needs installing to run a server. Unzip it, start it, and it keeps its data in ordinary files beside itself.
  • Moving a server to MySQL carries your data across. Outgrow the file storage, switch over, and your existing characters and accounts come with you.

Known Issues

  • The playable band is still roughly level 1 to 24. Combat balance, the full skill list and everything above the starting zones are early. The higher cap gives you room and nothing more.
  • Nothing above the starting zones is served yet, so the higher cap does not open the Bio Lab or the battle dungeons. Those maps are still missing.
  • Nobody has played anywhere near 65. The cap comes from the episode’s own experience table, and the climb to it may still be broken.
  • The client’s own experience table stops lower than the server’s, so what the client puts on screen above level 50 may be wrong.
  • Trading between players and socketing are missing. Socketing answers with a refusal, so the window closes cleanly.
